Who Governs KTS?

• Since 2006, KTS has operated as a not-for-profit, charitable organization, meaning all resources are reinvested into our students, staff, and facilities.

• King’s Town School is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, currently made up of four members, each a current or former parent.
   

From “Working Board” to “Governance Board”

• Like many small independent schools, KTS has been operating with a working board — board members took on hands-on, day-to-day tasks.

• In 2023/24, we invested in the Executive Director role to strengthen operations and support the school’s growth.

• Today, the Board is moving to a governance model, focusing on:

  • Strategic direction

  • Oversight and accountability

  • Long-term sustainability

• Daily operations are led by the Executive Director

• Educational Programming is led by the Principal
   

What Being a Charity Means

• Our charitable status ensures:

  • Every dollar is reinvested in programs, staff, and facilities.

  • We issue tax receipts for eligible donations.

  • We meet high standards of transparency and accountability.

• Above all, it reflects our mission: to provide an exceptional, student-centered education in an inclusive and supportive environment.
   

Community Engagement

• We value feedback from parents and families in our community. 

• The Board is committed to:

  • Providing regular, timely updates.

  • Engaging with families in meaningful dialogue.

 

Get Involved

• We are seeking additional volunteer board members with skills in areas such as marketing, finance, governance or facilities.

• Board members attend monthly meetings and may also serve on committees or lead special projects.
