Teacher: Grades 5–8, English, Humanities, Visual Arts
Amey was born and raised in Kingston and spent a great deal of her time in the dance studio and as a competitive cheerleader. After graduating from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in English and History, she and her husband moved to Alberta where she completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta.
In Alberta, she taught grades 7—12 English Language Arts and Social Studies for three years in a small rural community where she developed her appreciation for individualized learning and the difference community involvement can make in the success of her students. There, she was the teacher lead for the Student Representative Council, volunteered as a Girl Guide leader, and organized fundraisers with her students for the Canadian Cancer Society.
This is Amey’s first year with King’s Town School. She teaches Grades 5—8 Language, Social Studies/History and Geography as well as Visual Arts. Her goal is to share her passion for literature with her students and encourage responsible citizenship. She is the teacher lead for Book Club and enjoys her students’ enthusiasm and dedication. She appreciates KTS’s unique approach to teamwork through their House Teams and is proud to lead team Red!
Amey is a military wife and new mom who spends her free time baking, reading, and walking her two dogs.
